I am just setting up an older CX bike and the headset in it looks basically a mess with a mish mash of parts in. Not sure if this has been done much but it has what looks like an internal lower cup pressed in and a caged bearing race, the upper has a what looks like a rubber seal and compression ring and then a cx style fsa top cone. I have managed to establish that the a replacement would need to be a cane creek style IS41. First I have to try and remove the lower cup that has been pressed in as I understand the IS41 will be drop in type bearings and for the upper piece I havent got much leeway on the steerer tube so I think one of those double height style cyclo specific fsa cones requires too much stack. Any suggestions, I have only use caliper and v brakes so am unfamiliar with the canti set up. As i see it the front canti needs some type of device right to hold the upper cable housing in place to act as a stop before you can run the straddle piece underneath.
