hi all,
long time reader, first time poster here.
I'm building up a do it all cx/xc/road/trail/adventure/gravel bike. i've now got an on-one dirty disco 54 frameset. its beautiful but possibly too small.
I need some wheels now.
The specifics are 135mm/100mm hubs, disk breaks, would like to run 10spd (or 11 speed freehub with spacers for 10 speed cassette). 19mm ish clincher rim. under £250.
for purely aesthetic reasons i would like them to be silver/chrome not the black that is prevalent that the moment.
Is it better to go off the peg, custom built or secondhand (ebay)?
Any input on brands or advise would be very very welcome.

You try to find nice wide rims in a proper colour rather than tacky black!
You may find a very few pushing 19mm but they will be few. In my experience that is. I am chucking in fairly light and not too many spokes as well.

H Son Archetype rims in silver, Novatec 771/772 hubs and regular double butted spokes within your budget - about as light and durable as you'll get for your money.

thanks for the suggestion dovebiker. visually that combination would look cool.
Ive read many negative things about novatec hubs. mostly poorly sealed from water ingress, soft freehub body (perhaps now solved with anti bite guard) , exploding pawls and difficult to service / get parts.
does anyone have any anecdotal evidence for novatec hubs?
h plus son archetype looks bling. is 470g heavy?
stans ztr crest rims are 380g, but only come in black.

i cant find any info about alp bikes wheels.

I've given up on this idea for now. its probably just easier to go with the trend and get black wheels. thanks for the input though
