Hi Guys,
Was going to ride Llandegla at he weekend but with the snow they have had I think I might give it as miss. Whats the trail conditions at FOD and Cwmcarn like?
Cheers
Still snow on the trails at both as of this morning, but a lot can change in 48 hours.
BPW is open if you're at a loose end, or Afan.
At Afan, Penhydd, Bluescar, Wall were all fine last Sunday. Just a little wet.
Didn't know FOD had had snow. I assumed Cwmcarn had even though in hindsight they are not a million miles away from each other.
Cwmcarn (Twrch) was basically snowed-under on Tuesday, when all had been clear in Bristol for 48 hours hence. I was about the 3rd to attempt to ride the trail and, by the looks of the tyre tracks, the 3rd to give up!
I'm sure it's better now, but it's a lesson in how different the conditions can be in the hills from that at sea level.
Still a fair bit of snow at Cwncarn
and FOD
Rode verderers today, was fine. Top section of the final descent was a bit snowy but all rideable.
FOD got hammered so did the Cotswolds there are still some roads above Cheltenham cut off with snow as in country lanes not main roads.
Cwmcarn yesterday (weds) was a write off, everything under a good couple of feet of snow. The valley's pretty sheltered and doesn't get much sunlight. Went over to some off piste stuff nearby and that was completely clear!
Seems the further west you go the less snow you'll have atm. I've heard afan and brechfa are clear other than some fallen trees, and I rode smilog today which was also completely clear.
Was heading up to Cwmcarn on Tuesday, glad I gave it a miss!
Anybody been to either today for an update?
Post on FB from the Ranger - Cwmcarn, Afan and Brechfa are all open and they’re cleared all downed trees.
With Cwmcarn there’s a couple of patches of slush so be aware or words to that effect.
