So i have been to cwmcarn a fair few times and we mainly ride the cafall and the twerch trails. recently we have started to do the pedal hounds but we have never rode the other downhill there called the Y Mynydd? Watching the videos i dont recognise the start of the trail. So where do you pick it up? I guess its on the twerch side of the valley?
Thanks.
From Twrch trail where the short steep concrete path (near end / start of final descent) is carry on up the fire road a fair bit then there's a track on the right.
Not sure it's fully open due to the forestry work but have a look at the website, should say
Y Mynydd is the original (and best) downhill. All up and running again last I heard. Uplift will take you all the way up to the start, though it's only running at weekends and bank holidays currently (thank a combination of BPW and ongoing felling at Cwmcarn for that).
Right up the top is an open area where the bus drops off and a ramp up to the start with fence and two starts, one two dot orange and other three dot. One line is more difficult basically. They merge into one a short way down and then there's a few small splits for two or three dot options along the way, plus the road drop or roll down option. Whole lot is technically rollable.
What they said, it's all great
My favourite combi is the easier right hand line at the start then the right hand 3 dot option (easily missed) after the tunnel - more techy but not really harder
Careful of the quarry gap on the first section - all jumps are small then there's a surprisingly big one (with a chicken line, which I always take!)
