I've just picked up some Formula Cura X with the Kevlar hoses  - Wondering if its a bad idea to try shortening them without  the dedicated hose cutting tool ? I read that these hoses can fray. I've always just used a Stanley blade - but only for regulat hose not braided..  Anyone successfully cut kevlar hose with just a blade ?

A set of good quality cable cutters should be fine, never tried it with a blade

If you've a Dremel or similar; then one of those with a cutting disc will give best results. Wrap the part you want to cut in a couple of winds of electrical tape to stop it fraying.

The Kevlar is a braided fabric, try a wrap of PTFE tape to hold everything in place before you cut. It's non-stick so won't lift the braid when you remove the tape before fitting

Oh yeah PTFE  tape - forgot about that. Might try that with a blade. Thanks.

I always insert a section of inner gear or brake cable through the section I want to cut. This stops the outer crushing.

But no experience of kevlar
