Will i die?

Alloy frame, assuming I don't cut down to near the weld.

And cutting in a slot for the clamp to work?

What frame has enough seat tube available to do that!?

I paid frame builder Steve Goff to do exactly that to my old Enduro 29.

Total success.

Ginger - quite a few.

It will be fine. I've actually found making (steel) frames with too much sticking up seat tube above the top tube resulted in cracking. Everything I make now is as short as possible (let the replaceable seat post do the flexing not the frame).

My word! Steve Goff!!!
Does he still have the decrepit old Jaguar in his workshop?
Quite an experience buying a frame from him.
He "forgot" to tell me that he'd decided to use different gauge tubing to that which was agreed, and paid for.
