You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've recently been exiled for a three month period from the Land of the Giant (that would be Taiwan) to this God-Forsaken Isle (that would be the UK). As I can't run all day, I have invested in a Vee 1. A fine choice, no doubt you'll agree.
I've changed the saddle and bars to ones more befitting my manly yet petite body, but now I need your advice on shoes/pedals.
I have a strong aversion to cold wettyness so I'd like the shoes to be waterproof. And cheap. I would like the pedals to be clipless. And cheap.
Yes, I can Google. But as most of you spend a significant portion of your lives memorising cycling equipment websites I thought you may be able to say;
Whoa... hang on a sec, cuterunner... I know EXACTLY what you need.
BTW, I met my current g/f on match.com. Does this mean I'm cool?
Whoa... hang on a sec, cuterunner... I know EXACTLY what you need.
A bit more cash to spend on shoes and pedals.
Jeez, cutie - couldn't you have come back on Halloween ? 😉
Oh and it's 26" wheels. Didn't Giant teach you anything
No, this is a serious question. We can do the silliness later.
SURELY you want me to be part of this community? How can I achieve this if I don't have dry feet and over-developed thighs?
I have been here a while and heard of some fairly amazing bargains on various stuff . . . . But sheap waterproof shoes/boots are like the holy grail
. . . . but will be happily proved wrong!
That's not necessary - you just have to start a thread asking what jeans will fit you as you currently need a belt to hold them up if they fit over your legs. We'll infer the rest.over-developed thighs?
Riding on the road ?
How stupid are you happy to look ?
(shimano pedals, for sure)
I paid about £70 for a set of shimano clipless pedals and shoes,
Then buy a decent pair of overshoes and you can use the same shoes in summer (plus overshoes are flipping ace, most people don't realise this until they actually get a pair)
Riding on the road? Oh no. Been almost killed enough times to give that a miss.
Try 'Bumbling around Tentsmuir Forest'. And I'm happy to look a complete girlie. In fact, it's the look I aim for.
Ignore my sugestion, I looked at the Vee 1 and advised based on city
For forests.... Leave the vee at home and walk around them in wellys
to this God-Forsaken Isle
You have arrived in God's own country, be grateful for this opportunity. Cheap waterproof shoes don't exist. The expensive ones have a flaw as well, there's a hole in the top of all of them that lets water in.
scaredypants, that might work. Thanks.
🙂
wukfit:
Tentsmuir is flat with basically well-packed dirt roads. I'm riding for fun. I somehow think the Vee 1 will cope just fine.
Sandwich:
I'm guessing you've never been to TW. Until you have, you may wish to keep your comparisons to yourself.
Yes, I understand the basics of shoe design, which I why I have waterproof gaiters from my running-through-jungle-streams-avoiding-leeches days. I was going to use those with waterproof cycling shoes. Do you think there's any chance they may have worked, symbiotically-like?
Why would I want or need to go to Taiwan? England, my England is where it's at. You did the equivalent of walking in the local and told everyone it's crap! In real life your opening remarks would have got you thrown out.
