Could be lovely frozen bog covered with a layer of nice grippy snow.

Or could be icy sloppy, boggy powder snow. Slip sliding Mess.

Please tell me( regardless of whether you know for sure )

Did it once this time of year. Thought the freezing temps would make a dry and grippy trail.
Was one of my worst days on a bike. Could hardly stay upright as all the rocks were slippy as a slippy thing. And what wasn't rock was even slippier ice.
Lucky not to break an ankle with the amount of emergency dabs.
It was so bad I took the loooong way back to Langsett via the road.
But don't let me put you off 😀

I was out NW of Hudds this afternoon so not too far away. Even at lower elevation it was very icy in places so I imagine will be very slippy on Cut Gate - firm though!

I was walking in the Alport Valley today and above - you can see cut hate from there. Stunningly beautiful. Powdered snow. Very cold. I’ve ridden cut gate a few times, I really don’t know how it would fare tomorrow!

FYI there is a fell race over Cut Gate tomorrow. You are still perfectly entitled to ride it, but it might be pretty busy with runners.

You go from the north side Tracey if I remember your previous post on
this?

Give me a wave as you float past.

Also Tracey, what's your "destination" if you go from the north?

Coming from south it's obvs the polka dot cafe, but in the other direction there's a cornucopia of add ons to consider, but no good cafe...

We always set off from Langsett end. Depending on time then we go out and back or fit in a few of the ups and downs at the Derwent end. If it's nice then we extend over the A57 to do the Beast and Potato Alley. Usually lunch at the Ladybower Inn.

If anyone fancies Doctor's round to Cut Gate tomorrow then I'd be up for shuttling up Snake Pass.

Rather cryptic...

So do you go up potato and down the beast or is there some other cunning way of coming down them both without huge detours?

Follow www.twitter.com/KoftheP for peak district conditions updates.

Also, we're not far off raising the cash to sensitively sort Cut Gate out. Any more pennies you could spare would be very welcome

Nice! Route down the side of Wessy Head was also good fun - some ice but generally OK where you needed it to be!
