Team work making the dream work. In a project that brought together Peak District MTB, Ride Sheffield,  the BMC, horse groups, walkers, the national park and project leads Moors For The Future, Cut Gate is getting there....

Looks promising, forecast for rest of week should firm the ground up a bit, could be tempting come the weekend.

Good news at last! I only rode it a couple of times last year, after a bit of an obsession with it the year before. It’s a superb route, one of my all time faves. Well done..

Nice work!

So, how long does the stone flagging go on for? Presumably just cutting out the worst of the bog of doom and the other place where the path was becoming extremely wide?

Saw the posts on IG last night, impressive work using the Chopper to deliver materials.

Despite living in Sheffield for a few years, and having ridden nearly all the other famous trails aorund Derwent many times - I have never ridden Cut Gate - mainly due to all the stories about only doing it when its bone dry (and I have never experienced that!). Something to fix this year, definitely.

So can we expect the same crap like the changes made to the trail at North America?

If the past work that has been done, the long bit from Langsett is to go by then it felt very sanitized just after it was done and it took a couple of years for it to become weathered by the elements to bed it in along with loads of use, most if not all of it has now got back to what was, a great bit of the ride.
I would think in a couple of years that the North America refurb will be back to what it was like 15 years ago. We need to keep in mind that these trails aren't dedicated bike trails and as such when repairs are needed they are done so that everyone can have access to them.
The new top bit will be quicker to erode, apart from the slabs, due to its exposure.

@steel4real North America work was never finished but they ran out of time with nesting season and other things last year when doing it. As part of these works they're going back to finish it off. North america also suffered as it was becoming so wide from people avoiding bits and weathering that it needed some work doing and what is there now will at least last.

What steveh said about North America. Technically it was an unrelated project too but the team have done both as they've got the kit up there.

The slabs are just on the boggy bits.
