if you could source some suitable 31.8 tubing, would some custom bers be a possibility?
I thought the drawing tooling was the prohibitive bit.
For custom, you'd more likely end up with mitred and welded bars. ISTR that Ti custom bars were made that way since drawing was such an arse ache with Ti.
Yeah, it's the extruding that's complex - or expensive at least.
You could do custom bars with a 22.2mm bar and a shim in the middle though.
My mate is making custom carbon handlebars if youre interested, he makes them in Horsforth along with his carbon bikes.
31,8 tubing is available tho.
I fancy a nice curved/arc bar about 700mm wide.
31.8mm would need reducing to 22.2mm to fit your grips, brakes and shifters too though. 22.2mm with a shim could in theory work, but custom carbon sounds like the best bet.
31.8 is for the stem clamp, your brakes, shifter & grips aren't going to clamp to that
New standard alert! Bigger wider grips offer more traction for your hands!
doh!!! got it now. carbon or 22.2 then. 😳
What is it you're after, anyway, ton?
Talk to a frame builder, a fair few do custom bar/stem combos.
Though http://www.watsoncycles.com/Handlebars.aspx?ProductId=20 might just do what you want.
a curved bar about 700mm wide.
soma made one, but I cant find one anywhere.

how swept back would the bar be?
if you get a bar/stem combo welded up you can use any size tubing that the grips will fit on?
