So I want a 26" Arch EX rim on a hope hub: but front only, with black spokes.

I cant get this as a prebuilt Hope Hoop so it looks like custom build.

DIY is out - I wouldn't trust myself to do it. I'll give my LBS a call on Monday.

In the meantime - any good ideas / tips (Merlin are £129 delivered, JRA £147).

When I said that - I meant it! As in I wouldnt build a wheel for me to ride never mind someone else!

Anyway - Moonglu looks good: never heard of them but that sounds they know their onions - thanks!

I've had some very decent wheels from LifeCycles in Bolton - a few pairs of Hope / Mavic mountain bikes wheels that have been flawless. I know they've got an excellent reputation.

The wheels on my Tripster were built by Cycle Centre in Congleton and have probably had as much abuse as the mountain bike ones(!), so I'd recommend there too.

Well I'm glad to see some smileys appearing up there!

Anyway - I want to pay someone to do me a good job: I dont care how easy or not it actually is.

/Edit - gonetothehills: thanks. Appreciated!

As a seasoned wheelbuilder (I have built probably hundreds, not thousands, but I know what I'm doing) I can vouch for the quality of Merlin's wheels. Every Merlin built wheel I've used has been exceptionally well built, if I needed a pre-built wheel I'd probably buy off them out of choice.

I've just bought a pair of white Arch EX on blue Hopes handbuilt by Dave Hinde (Northwich) for £290 a pair delivered.
And very nice they are too

I got my Arch EX/Pro2s from Moonglu at the start of the year. Excellent service from them and so far the wheels have stood up to my abuse! 🙂
