Hey,

I'm toying with the idea of a new build and going full tart as any available springs wont match the colour I want.

Has anyone done this? Know of any companies that do a proper job? Is it worthwhile or does the paint just crack in no time?

Cheers

As far as tarts go I’m at the budget end of the scale so would try a can of plasti-kote and see how that went

Edit: I may have meant plasti-dip.  Whatever it is it is flexible so may stand a chance of staying on your spring and the one I’m thinking of can be applied to tool handles so must be reasonably hard wearing

I have some that has been sat in the shed for years, I will check exactly what it is later

I know of people who have plasti-dipped frames. Stays on for a while and then starts peeling off like skin after sunburn.

You could paint it but would need a flex additive in any paint so the paint moved with the spring.

I'd much rather pay for a proper powder coat job if that would work rather than bodge.

As above, you'll need a flexible powdercoating or it will just flake off.

Which might be for the best, as coloured springs look awful.

I think any coating is going to have a limited life.  Maybe I’d try shrink wrap.
