I've got Cushcore pro on my full sus, running with Exo plus/Grid trail tyres, and I mostly love it.

The thing that I don't love is riding up hills on it. It's not awful, but neither is it particularly zippy.

Has anyone got any experience of the lighter Cushcore products? If so how do they compare, specifically with side wall support?

I'd like the lightness, but not if it meant that I had to run significantly higher pressures to maintain sidewall support in corners.

I'll be the one to ask.... "why are you bothering running cushcore/inserts" ?

Because of the increased grip and damping from running lower pressures.

How heavy are you, and what tyres? Everyones different of course so impossible to compare one persons experience directly to anothers.

I'd say that using EXO Plus, OR Cushcore, not both, is all thats needed for most riding this side of full on enduro racing...

Perhaps try keeping the cushcore but run a 'regular' EXO tyre?

90kgs, and it's not just about puncture protection, it's about running lower pressures for me.

And yes I do ride down fairly gnarly and rocky stuff on it on a regular basis.

Exo plus on it's own pinch flats and squirm and burps at the lower pressures I run with Cushcore, as does Doubledown.
