So I'm looking to get a 130mm 29er (boost) fork at the end of October for a bike build.
With supplies being what they are, and budget being a bit limited, what other choices have I not covered below?
Keeping it below £600, I've got the following options:
Pike Select should just sneak in around £600

Alternative: SR Suntour Axon is around £450 (always wanted to try the higher end Suntour).

The other option is converting my Yari to a Charger 2.1 and getting a 130mm air spring. Could get this done as part of a service.
For reference, the bike will be a Banshee Phantom V3. Just looking for some opinions really.
I would give TF Tuned a call and see what the upgrade options are for your Yari. Something like the Yari UP and debonair air shaft might be a good upgrade and will be cheaper than a new fork.
Christ, was expecting a thread lamenting the lack of 80 mm forks on the market.
I have a Lyrik set to 130mm on my hardtail because I already had it and converting was the cost effective option. It is quite a lump of fork and I can't help thinking I'd rather something a little lighter on a short travel bike like the Phantom.
Haha, I should have put (in the grand scheme) in the title!
I had been considering a Yari Up before. It's a 2020 Yari so already has the Debonair spring (massive improvement I found over the old one). Just need to drop the travel with a new one.
Could be a good shout as it'll probably turn out cheaper than a new fork (and possibly better).
I get what your saying about the weight. I considered it, but I'm not exactly a featherweight so I probably won't notice a couple hundred grams? Also the Yari would be stiffer I suppose.
Only 120mm travel though SID. I would have considered it though to be honest.
true, a full pound lighter than a yari, though
Marzocchi Z2
Depending on exact spec, you don't need to push your budget too much more to get a pike ultimate from StarBike.
Just got a Lyrik from them and the service was top notch.
@cloggy
I was keen on a Z2, but there doesn't seem to be much stock about 🙁
@onzadog
I was trying to be more sensible for a change, but I reckon if I try hard I could stretch to a Pike Ultimate.
Either offset on the forks would be fine according to a guy who tested the Phantom (he actually erred towards a 51mm offset).
Chain Reaction have them
So they do! £550 for the one I want. Bet they sell out the day before I order though!
Unfortunately you missed out on the bargain DT Swiss F535 fork on Wiggle test rode mine on the Ripley other day a very good performing fork
I got mine from Chain. Just for durability.
Yeah I was gutted as the DT Swiss would have been great at those prices!
Z2 is on the cards now, but they are a bit weighty! Might not matter though to be fair.
Actually, I think the weight on Chain Reaction is wrong. Looks like they might have published the weight of the coil version.
Think I'm going for the Z2.
Edit* Found a brand new Fox 34 on eBay for £400, so snapped it up quick! It's the same one I had on my Intense so I know them pretty well.
