My mate is looking to get rid of his Hustler for a lighter hard tail which would better suit usual riding.

Short list is Rock Lobster team tig sl (alu) or current Scandal.

Both nice and light.

So, anyone run their Scandal with forks greater than 100mm travel....like 120mm?

Mine was the older model but the geometry's still the same. I ran mine with 100-130mm uturns and tbh I didn't like it much at all at anything over 110mm. Superb at 100 though, but just felt clumsy with more and lost the things that made it so great with the short fork without really gaining an awful lot.

YMMV of course- I miss mine and I'd gladly have another but it'd get 100mm fixed length forks. I only fell out with it because I was trying to get it to do a job it didn't want to do, and then I rode a Soul.

Is the Scandal geometry different from an Inbred? I bought some cheap U-turns from the classifieds for my Inbred to give me length options, but they've been at 130mm for years now. Love riding it, I actually choose it over my Five more often than not. It would wander on v steep ups, but I'm usually out of the saddle (and therefore over the front) anyway as it's 1x9. Worth it for the way down, especially now changed to 750 bars, which are fantastic.
