some crazy offers - like, Cube Stereo 140 HPA:

https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Cube-Stereo-140-HPA-SL-27-5-Mountain-Bike-2017-Trail-Full-Suspension-MTB_97755.htm

(biggest: L is avaliable)
The Stereo 140 HPA for 1.7 k (2016/2017 version)
RRP ("old" model) is 2.6 k ...

27.5" version, review 2014:
http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/bikes/mountain-bikes/full-suspension/product/review-cube-bikes-stereo-140-hpa-27-5-15-48934/

The new 2018 Stereos are new designs - but think the "old" HPA 140 is fantastic!
Quite some stores which sell those right now for a very good price!

140 mm full suspension aluminium trail bike.

Tredz though so chances are they won't have any stock despite advertising as being in stock.

@salad_dodger:

thanks. Good point.

But other shops sell the Stereo 140 HPA for 1.7 k as well:

My opinion: strange to drop the price so far for the 2017 version.
This bike is so good!!!

There's 20" frames of the 2016 model going for £1400.

The 2018 model has an all new frame so it's not surprising the old models are being sold off so cheap, the new one isn't exactly extreme in terms of geo, it's pretty standard now (478 reach XL, 458 L, 66.5 HA) but the 2017 model was a bit outdated... 448 reach on the XL, 444 on the L!! And a 67.5 HA 😐

@ta11pau1:

but the 2017 model was a bit outdated

all kind of bikes in the group I bike with. Beside hardtails I bike the Bossnut V2. Some in the group have the 2016 Stereo HPA 140.
These bikes are fast and fun!
Quality is a couple levels higher than my Bossnut V2. These HPA 140 bikes will last much longer than my Bossnut (although I love my Bossnut).
Having the Stereo 140 biked: wouldn't say that the bike is outdated.
Not at all...

that's nuts! Crazy!

If I hadn't so much bike projects going on right now...- that's the frame size I would need...

The 2018 model has an all new frame

I tried to find the "new Stereo 140 Aluminium" bike:

https://www.cube.eu/uk/2018/bikes/mountainbike/fullsuspension/stereo/

Can't find any. All Cube Stereo 140 trail bikes with Carbon frames now?
Checked web pages of shops as well:

appears that the pricing starts now from 2.5 k. New Stereo 140 Carbon...
Jeffsy Aluminium starts from around 2 k ?
Jeffsy Carbon well above 3 k ?

Interesting...!

Yeah the 2018 model has a carbon front triangle, aluminium rear. There's 3 models, £2500/£3000/£3500.

After you take into account the BC discount the top level one is £3150 for fox factory everything, gx eagle and decent (if not extreme) geo. Unless something else with a similar spec/geo gets released I think I'll be picking one up in summer, maybe in the sales come autumn this year.

You can always get a bargain with cube 😉 I got my stereo from CRC a year ago for just over £1500. It was 35% off and I got my additional 10% BC discount too, so a 45% saving on a new bike...can't say no to that.

Yeah they're not one of the most popular brands in the UK, I'll probably wait until the end of summer as the new bikes were announced in September 2017 but they're not actually in stock yet, and the frame won't change for next year on the 140. Should get at least 20-30% off in total come the end of year sales

Excellent...
Surprise to me: this will clearly beat the direct sales Carbon Jeffsy then?

I wasn't a friend of Carbon sleds. ...yet...

An I know how good the current/old Stereo HPA 140 is/was...

Your inputs are really helpful. I will follow this Stereo HPC 140 thing now as well.
Never was a friend of the old school geo Cube XC hardtails. But these 140 mm trail full suss Stereo bikes I like a lot.
😉
