I'm looking at either the Reaction RX or the GTC Pro. I love Fox forks but the Rock Shox on the carbon bike seem a bit naff. Any advice welcome.

seriously, very nice bikes. the forks work similarly (very well) and look good in the flesh, and if you have problems with either fork, i would rather deal with rockshox (fisher)... having said that, rebas are nice and reliable

I have both Reba's & Fox forks both are superb forks, the Reba's are more adjustable then the Fox.

As for Fishers service, it's a joke. Spare parts arriving 2 weeks late after the time they were promised, forks being lost then found, then lost, a week later found again & then told it's another 2 week wait for them to be serviced, our customers are not very happy bunnies due to these delays.

Both the Cubes are great bikes

fair dos about fishers service actually, but they are normally cheaper than fox. anyway, one more thing to consider is that the pain on the gtc seems to come off very easily, when scratched the paint flakes off.

Thanks for those replies. I've always had Fox and they've been bullet proof (and they're on the cheaper, alloy bike), I just fancied the carbon frame but when I looked at it today at Leisure Lakes they couldn't get the Rock Shox to lock totally rigid like the Fox, and they also seemed to make a lot of squelchy noises when unlocked. As I'm not familiar with these Reba SL's I'd appreciate any help; anybody have the Sid race forks? They're on the Elixir R bike.

I have a LTD Race and love it. Very light out of the box and I've lightened it further. My bike of choice for most riding. Great bikes.

The Reba's don't fully lock out to protect the internals of the fork, you still get ~15mm of travel, you can also adjust the floodgate which alters the bump force required to unlock the fork when you hit an obstacle, the fork unlocks then relocks.

The squelching noise is normal it's the oil passing through the damper

The Fox forks do lock out solid with no floodgate so the fork remains solidly locked out even if you hit something on the trail personally I prefer the RS lockout system even though I love Fox forks (Reba's are pretty awesome too though!)

If the folks at Leisure Lakes didn't tell you this when you asked them about it (you did ask didn't you?) then they don't know much about the bikes they are selling

3 friends have recently bought Cube hardtails 2 LTD Pro's & a LTD Comp.

Fantastic bikes for the money with a great load of kit hanging on a quality frame. If i hadn't already splashed £2000 on new bikes this yr i'd have one!

Orangista, thanks for explaining the difference. You're right the guy at Preston wasn't too clued up, but to be fair when I talked to Mark at Bury, he knew all about them and said they could be sorted. I like a fork to be solid for steep road climbs so I'll probably go with the Fox, sadly on the alloy bike. Cheers.
