Are crown races from the same manufacturer the same in different head sets?
I'm going to change my forks over, from my old bike (which had an FSA pig headset) to the new bike (which has unknown FSA (standard on P7) headset).
Obviously I could/should just take them apart and try, but its cold downstairs and I don't want to get my hands dirty if it isn't going to work.
Also, if this wont work, what's the best way to remove a race, I've always gone for screwdriver and hammer but this tends to chew the race and the steerer quite a bit!
Thanks all!
boing! Still not tried this (got in trouble for getting grease on the carpet. Any ideas?
Usually no, you may be lucky though.
use a kitchen knife to get the old ones off. Side on, the bevel on the knife is enough to start to open it up. Slowly slowly catchy monkey. A chisel works too. Don't go mad. Screwdrivers are too blunt ended to start with.
Although of course most (all of the FSA's I've used) have split crown races anyway.
