Should there ever be a gap between the crown race and the bottom of the fork steerer tube? Been trying to fit a cane creek reducer crown race to fox talas forks and there's about 5mm to go. Won't go beyond that point (I'm using a proper crown race fitting tool). Wondering if the crown race reducer has been manufactured too small!

Cut a slot through it with a hacksaw, then it'll fit.

Problem with cutting a slot in it is that the rubber seal is attached to the crown race.

I did grease it.

Thanks for your replies.
