the hope crown race seems to fit under the cane creek 40 bearing okay without any play. Does anyone know if they will work together longer term? A 2012 STW thread seemed to think so but I thought I'd check incase the specs have changed.
I don't know way other manufacturers don't do split crown race
I have done this a while back and it's still in use on the GF's bike.
I have also converted a few crown races to split using a dremel
CC40 bearings are so bad with their own race, canny be any worse with a different one!
Depends what size your asking about 1 1/8 or 1.5, hopes 1.5 crown race is 45°, 1 1/8 is 36° so needs a bearing to match, if the race doesn't interfere with the cup due to different bearing height you should be good.
Thanks everyone for comments. I have fitted it, it seems okay but the angled section of the hope race is longer.

Or a junior hacksaw.
If the angle is right then it will work but some crown races have a seal that interface with the lower bearing, this may or may not be an issue with your setup. You might just be compromising sealing slightly.
