I'm currently running a minion DHF 2.5 Exo can anyone offer a comparison to the above alternatives?

26" flavour.

Decided to post a few questions tonight as I've been meaning to for a while!

Magic Mary is spikier and muddier, not as good as an allrounder but better in real slop or churned up stuff- your classic handcut cut to ribbons "winter enduro" sort of thing . I think pretty similiar in intermediate/mud-with-things-in. Haven't used a Charge so can't comment

Charge isn't as spiky

Ridden it in mud, dust, rocks and loam - it doesn't like deep mud but on everything else it's been great.

Sturdy, reliable, rolls and corners well (well, more than enough for me) and has lasted really well

I'd buy another

Edit: I've not ridden a MM but mate rates them for 'not for summer'

Definitely, unless it's summer in the everglades or something. I seem to have a more polarised opinion on the Mary than most but imo, if it's not rolling on something it can spike into, it's a bit crap. Very draggy, not all that grippy, and really abrupt when it loses traction. Once it gets its teeth into the ground though it grips and the softer things get, the better it is.

I did try a charge for one ride and thought it was good and very well damped compared to the Minion EXO.

However as a dual ply with and extra 6 ounces+ I guess it would be.

Just wondered what other people thought regarding weight and wear rate.

Sounds like the MM isn't for me then.

I've found it excellent - you sure it was the Magic Mary, as opposed to the Muddy?

Yup- Magic Mary is the newer soft conditions tyre, Muddy Mary is the older allrounder.

I do really rate the Magic Mary, it's just a bit situational.

I hold pretty much the same feelings about the MM as NW, probably because we ride very similar trails. I've got it on the rear now and other than the drag, it's pretty good

I have found that the DHF rails on hard pack or when the ground is soft enough for tyre to spike in but struggles on a slippy surfaces.

Used the Charge in 27.5" flavour. One of the best tyres I've ever used.

What about HR2, - another obvious candidate? or HD?

I have run Muddy marys and didn't feel as confident as i was on Maxxis minion DHF and HR2 out back.

I think it will come down to how you expect your tyres to behave.

I much prefer the chunky squared off side tread of the maxxis to the schwable rounded style.
