You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
As above, looking for some other options before I part with cash. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Same Q here. Anyone?
Pinnacle Arkose? That's the only one that springs to mind. I've the Croix de Fer 10 so it's a bit moot as far as I'm concerned.
What are your requirements?
There's a multitude of cross bikes that could fit the bill. The CDF seemed expensive when I was looking, and the cost seemed to mainly go towards a faux 'heritage' frame.
I wanted a fast-ish commuter bike that could handle pot holed roads (fatter tyres) take mudguards, disk brakes and pannier racks. I plumped for a Charge Plug as they were going cheap, however I didn't like the massive tyres it came with, the rear mudguard mount is unconventional (but results in a neat set up when done with some thought) but other than that I'm happy enough with it.
What are you after?
Cheap? Touring? Lighter?
I almost bought a cda (croix de alloy) recently. Same bike just lighter
Just after as close to a "do-all comfy drop bar bike" as I can find. CDF 10 is a good starting point - CDA and Arkose are good options - any others?
I've just borrowed my friends kinesis pro 6 as I'm training for Lejog and it's takes a rear pannier. (my carbon road bike doesn't)
I've had a kinesis tripster in the past that I loved. The pro 6 is a bit more robust but still pedals well on the road. It's a cx bike but is a jack of all trades. Much lighter than a cdf. A lot of friends race cx and swear by them.
If you are after a s54cm then this is a bargain.
How about the Sonder Camino.
A friend bought the ti version recently and it's quite impressive.
As above...need a do it all bike. CDF seems the ticket,
Needs to handle pot holes and be fast and comfy.
Neighbour has one and it looks perfect, just want to out the competition ...
Arkose
I think Mango bikes do an option but can't remember the mode name
Boardman do a cross type bike for under a grand with 1x11 and hydro brakes
Cotic Escapade? Is that in the same court?
Marin Four corners?
I am also looking for the same (doing a build so frames only) and my list has been as follows:
Pinnacle Arkose 2016
Mango Point AR
Sonder Camino AL
Sonder Camino Ti
My criteria has been:
Must take rack and mud guards
Must have 40-45c clearance
Comfy long haul geometry (long wheel base)
Must be able to take seat post mounted child seat
My plan is to have two sets of wheels so I can still hit the roads but can swap them up fro days on single
track.
Kona Sutra LTD ticks all those boxes and probably a few more.
By coincidence mine might shortly be for sale.
I've a brand new in box Crosslight Pro6 frameset (57 cm) available. £400 plus delivery or pickup in East Manchester. PM if interested.
