You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So we're off on family hols next week to Croatia, 8 days in omis, just south of split, then 3 nights near Dubrovnik.
I hadn't really expected to do any riding but just in case there is an odd day free does anyone know if it's possible?
Place we are staying in omis seems to be more likely. Would need to hire bikes obviously.
Thanks
Hello from Dubrovnik!
Been here nearly a week, think I've seen 2 bikes total. Only trip or activity I've seen advertised that is vaguely bike related is a 7mile bike and wine tasting trip. Pedalo hire looks to be the best bet for something leg powered.
According to the bloke who runs MTB holidays in Bulgaria, in eastern Europe cycling is something inflicted on kids and poor people. Doing it for fun is just plain weird.

Bollocks.
Loads of cycling done in Slovenia. MTB, road and just plain riding along.
Agree, bollocks. Slovenia has an enormous range of MTB options, great bike shops and lots of people out on the trails.
There were hundreds of mountain bikes to hire on the island of Brac when I was there last year, but I never saw anyone actually hire one.
Hoping to go to Slove in Sept 😆
Slov & Cro may be a bit hot in Jul/Aug 💡

OK, never been to Slovenia, but seems like a reasonable observation in other countries. Shame really, 'cos there's some cracking ranges of hills round hereAgree, bollocks.
Watching with interest, off to Dubrovnik in a few weeks and wouldn't mind a day on a bike, had seen the wine tasting tour and that was about it
Kayaking long the coast is looking like the best option for a day of me time at the moment
Was there 2 years back and the wine tasting tour was all I could find...
It's a pleasant ride around flat country roads with a bit of flat off road thrown in here and there. If you want serious mountain biking then I wouldn't bother but if a nice pootle around the bottom of a valley, some local history and wine sounds like your thing then go for it. The wine wasn't half bad either, cheap too if you buy it there.
Not really your area or mountain biking but we went to Istria in the North a couple of years ago. There were a number of marked biking trails including 1 along a disused railway line the Parenzana - that was quite spectacular as there are several viaducts and tunnels. The tunnels are not lit and some are quite long and curve - a weird feeling cycling in total darkness wondering if you are about to smack into the wall.
The hire bikes weren't brilliant and did not have bottle cages, I would recommend taking your own if you don't want to ride with a pack.
Off there in Sept (Dubrovnik & Split), intrigued about possibility of combining pootling about and wine...
doesnt sound technical or particularly energetic but there is this as a variation to the wine tour

I've emailed a place in split and they can offer me a choice of...
1. Specialized Enduro Evo 2012, size up to 182 cmCanyon tourqu
Free ride fr
Full suspension
Fork 180 cm
Shock back 1702. www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/bikes/mountain-bikes/full-suspension/product/review-cube-bikes-ams-130-hpa-pro-27-5-14-48037/
3. XC race hardtail XL frame Merida with Shimano XT, Reba SL fork and tubeless Mavic wheels.
Which suggests that there might be some decent riding to be had.
Which bike to go for?
(Have at home a blur4x 115/140 travel and dialled pa with 140 forks.)
Hmmm
Well just to update this thread that I won't be able to update this thread about mtb in Croatia as I bust my poxy wrist on Saturday so instead of flying to split tomorrow I'll be nil by mouth for surgery on Wednesday morning!
Arse!
Ive been there a few times, one word of warning is that there are still a few areas that haven't been cleared of landmines!
