My Fox Transfer is creaking in my alloy Anthem.  It currently has fiber gel (carbon paste) and the OEM Giant Clamp done up to 6NM.  It also does it with a light torque Thomson clamp, done up to 2.8NM.

It is definitely coming from the collar area and there are no cracks.

So, I'll clean at all out tonight and put back together, probably with the Thomson clamp initially.

What's the current thinking on droppers in alloy frames - grease or copper slip ?

Thanks

Ian try a product called Hylomar Blue. It's a non-setting gasketting compound so does a great job of stopping the post slipping or creaking but still allows the post to be removed if needed. Safe on metal parts, not tried it on carbon.

are you sure it's the seatpost that's creaking in the frame?

put some grease on the seatpost as that's standard procedure, then put some copper-slip or grease on the threads of the seatclamp and even a bit on the frame where the clamp wraps round

It's quite often the seat clamp causing creaks - copper slip/grease the threads and any contact points including the saddle rails.

thanks, my feeling is that it is the clamp, so will make sure the clamp/set-tube interface is well greased (it is currently dry)

yep, saddle rails and clamp are squeaky clean and i have ruled out the saddle as I can replicate it by gripping the post beneath the saddle, cheers
