I have a 2014 Giant Anthem which is only around 1 year old and fairly lightly ridden. Had a puncture the other day and flipped the bike upside down. Ever since the bike has been very creaky when riding. Think it could be the pivot bearings creaking a bit. Any obvious signs when your bearing have gone ? (apart from creaking 😛 ) Seems a very short time frame for the bearings to go. If I stand off the bike and push down there is little to no creaking sounds.

Could be chainring bolts or bottom bracket. That's what usually causes creaking on my full sus when pedalling. Super easy to fix; just grease and tighten them up.

My anthem creaks was always down to seat rails. Always sounded different, but 9 times out of 10 it was the seat rails.

The shock bushing has a limited lifetime on the anthem IME, but the linkage bearings are durable. Not sure if it would creak, though (you can check if it's going by having the bike stood level and gently lifting under the saddle - any play will be evident).

I'd do the easy creak stuff first before getting stuck into the maestro linkage - as above plus pedals, rear skewer, deraillieur hanger, seat post collar etc etc.

Thanks, all good advice. Will go through it all at the weekend. Sounds too soon for the maestro bearings to have gone as it has not been off road much.

Seat rails also were the cause of an annoying creak on my Anthem.

Will check seat rails first. Did you just loosen the bolts, clean, lightly grease and tighten ?

That's what I would do.

Check for cable rub on the rear shock rocker link... That's what mine was!

Well that was an easy fix. The back tyre was running a bit low (around 20psi). Pumped it up to 35psi and seems to have sorted the creaking. I think low pressure causes small lateral movement in the rear triangle.
