Bought 2nd hand, so warranty claim is likely a no-go to start with. I read somewhere recently about being able to drip some Loctite (bearing retainer possibly?) into the bottom of the CSU at the interface between the crown and the steerer, let it cure properly and the creak may well vanish. Has anyone here had a go at that?

Strikes me as something that's easily tried and couldn't do any harm, so might have a go myself. Not sure what bearing retainer would be best though. Loctite 638 may be thin enough to get in and strong enough to make a difference?

Assuming it doesn't managed to somehow run right through the assembly, that could be good stuff. I wonder if the strength of a bearing retainer might be better though?

I had the same problem with my Pikes, turns out it wasn't the steerer creaking.

Remove the 3 position lever from the top of the forks crown using an allen key and check the torque of the 30mm nut using a sockett, (28 nm torque I think) Then do the same with the other side where the air valve is, (think this is 24mm socket) and again 28 nm torque.

I found that the 3 position lever side was lose slightly. After tightening this cured the creak.

Hope this helps.

Me too. I hadn't torqued the top cap correctly after fitting bottomless tokens. Note, 28 N m is correct, and a lot.

I was going to start a new thread but might as well hijack here!

The creaking, is it more like a metallic click? That's what I get whilst riding and the same but much more pronounced when twisting the legs with the bike upside down and the wheel out.

Edit: Just found this as well, creaky forks explained!

The top cap fix or the stuff dripped in to steerer fix?

I've had it on two Rev's. One was 2nd hand and went straight back to the seller, the other was a new fork that developed the issue after 350 off-road miles.

what's going on here?? RS didn't use to be like this?
Is it that black coating?
Anyone had it on gold ones?

My Reba's with gold stanchions don't do it and they've seen far more miles than the Revelations's.
