I have a 96 stumpy and i have just fitted some new bars and noticed the headset was creaking.
What may be the causes?

Mud - Either dirt has got into the bearings or more likely is present in between the bearing and headset cup - just break down, clean and reassemble with a bit of grease (similar process to this):

Yes, i got a bit trigger happy with my posting when normally i would clean it first and worry after if it is still happening.
A quick strip and clean has done the job!
