You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The BB of my Whyte Stirling is beginning to creak ever so slightly, I'm guessing from the threads.
It's an external GPX (similar to Hollowtech II) and I've ordered a new one but I plan to strip the current one tonight to try to stop the creak.
My question is, when reassembling, should I put grease/copper-slip/thread lock on the threads? Assume thread lock but I'm doubting myself.
Me personally a bit of grease.
Never used copperslip or thread lock on a bb.
No doubt others have though?
Make sure its not the seat clamp or pedals before pulling out the bb
A tame grade of loctite acts a nice barier to keep filth out just don't go crazy with strength
Grease is fine IME, coppaslip works too and some say is better.
I wouldn't replace the BB for a creak personally.
