I purchased a Mobi V17 Jet Wash from Chain Reaction last year and it broke after 10 months (leaking 17 litres of water into the car). I filled in a returns form and got it replaced by a new one.

Now that I have a new one it has failed again after a few months and is leaking water in the car again. Does the 12 month warranty restart when you get a replacement item ? Also when filling in the warranty form, a lot of the numbers they ask for are not available on the warranty replacement as it does not come with a receipt. So what do you fill in ?

Also does anyone know how to get all this leaked water out of the car, it has soaked into the carpet. The carpet has absorbed a load of water and it's not warm enough at this time of year for it to just dry out by itself.

EU regulations say you're statutorily entitled to a 2 year warranty, no?

It looks like I'll have to stick with putting a bucket of water under the mobi pressure washer when transporting it in the car so that it catches the water!

You could try not washing your bike with a pressure washer. It may last longer and cost you less in mechanic's fees 🙂

I like to just blast all the shit off the bike it is the only way to do it.

Whats the alternative ?

Bringing the bike home is not an option - All that SHIT can stay at the trailhead I don't want it anywhere NEAR my house or front garden

Bucket of water in the car doesn't appeal it will probably fall over. Not to mention the water will be freezing now if left in the car.
Hand and Spunge and brush in cold water sounds like torture.

I used to keep a 6 pint milk container full of water in a bucket in the car and a soft bristled dustpan brush.

Tip water in bucket. Use brush in water to slosh/wet brush off worst of mud at edge of car park. Empty bucket into hedge and put bike in car.

Now I just chuck it in filthy on a tarp.

Generally I don't bother washing my bike but when I did, I took a decking sprayer, filled with water.

Pump it up, spray. Fresh crap comes off easily.

They're about £12?

Just take the water separately and fill it up when you need to!

My experience of trying to get CRC to honour the 2 year EU thing did not go well.

Try to avoid buying anything I might need to warranty replace from them (ie nothig too expensive or electronics)

Dehumidifier for the wet carpets?

Really?

Only thing i've had to do it with, simply sending them a link to the relevant legislation and an excerpt of the text was enough to get them to send a replacement. Took 4 or 5 e-mails in total. Well worth it for the ~200 quid it cost me to buy in the first place.

a lot of the numbers they ask for are not available on the warranty replacement as it does not come with a receipt. So what do you fill in ?
The numbers on the original receipt is what i've used in the past, successfully.

Did your "local bike mechanic" tell you that it was a good idea or something? Explains a lot.

mobile pressure washers aint got that much pressure ime, not compared to ones you chuck a quid in at trail centres, and folk lap them up! ive never worried too much about using them on my bikes, certainly preferable to scraping all that crap out of the car later... just dont fire it directly at the pivots?

if you can get a replacement under warranty, wait till it arrives then send it back to CRC for a refund...

did that with a bent saddle recently.

All the usual...wash you bike at your own peril tribe out at the moment I see?!? What a load of rubbish, I have had a mini for the last two years, never missed a beat. But I secure it in the boot when full of water and as a result have never lost a drop. As for cleaning your bike with it, it’s not a pressure washer at best it’s a strong hose. I use mine to get rid of the heavy mud especially on tyres and crevices around the bike as, being blunt, I also don’t want to drag the shot through my car. The mini is nothing like powerful enough to cause any more significant damage than a standard hose pipe. It’s the shitty mucoff and other cleaning agents that cause bigger problems. For reference I ride 3-4 days a week in FOD all year around. I use a mobi and I have single handily managed to make a RF pFBB last longer than anyone else in my riding group, that’s serial bike cleaners and religious ‘I never clean my bike’ folk alike.

Other good thing about the mini is I can blast most of the crap off my clothes at trail side which helps preserve the washing machine.

OP I think your warranty is from date of purchase not the subsequent replacements. But as others have said you could always tread down the EU 2 year law, see how you get on
