I don't normally do this sort of thing and I've had excellent service from CRC in the past so hopefully it's just a one off but here goes...
I ordered a pair of wheels and opted to pay £10 for guaranteed next day delivery before 12:00. I didn't receive a confirmation or tracking code, so getting a bit anxious I called CRC around 11:00 and was advised the wheels had been dispatched and to wait until 12:00, the nice lady also said that if they didn't arrive by 12:00, they would refund the £10.
Anyway the wheels didn't arrive so I called them back and the girl I spoke to said they can't refund the shipping because the order was made at 15:10 the previous day and the cut off for guaranteed next day delivery is 15:00, she also said that her colleague had advised me of this and put a note on the system to reinforce that 👿
Spoke to a supervisor and after repeatedly insisting that the first girl hadn't told me anything of the sort and had in fact told me the opposite, supervisor agreed to send me a voucher as a gesture of goodwill.
Sorry about the rant, but I'm getting on a bit now.
Make sure its not a voucher that says "£10 off your next £100 purchase", thats been done to me before, not from CRC though.
Wheels have been sent to the incorrect delivery depot, meaning I won't have them in time for my camping trip to The Lakes, so no riding for me.
Paid £10 for next day delivery on Weds...cheers CRC.
I've ordered 2 Stem bolts.
I waiting to see of they arrive in a cardboard box about 300 x thier size, but may be less aggrevated if I recieve some free High five Gels to pad out the empty space.

The downer about that is that the postman can't put it through the door so you have to go and pick up from the Post Office on Saturday and stand next to that old woman with all the cats who stinks of pi$$.

In my case, the PO is attend by a gorgeous tall long haired indian girl who thinks my son is cute enough to warrant a long conversation with me and hold up everyone behind me.
Simple pleasures....

I would, if mine were helpful and didn't have a minimum £50 spend policy.
I've tried to use CRC's next day delivery three times now. They have a 100% failure rate. Impressive stuff.

Ffs, the courier making an arse of things is hardly CRC's fault is it?
I had a good experience.
For some reason payment had been taken via Paypal, but did not receive a confirmation from CRC nor was it showing on my CRC account. I emailed them, within 5 minutes I had a reply and they had credited my Paypal. I re-ordered and it was here the next day! I didn't use the next day postage, just the standard free one.

I think I may have been better off just selecting free delivery.

True, but they didn't dispatch them until Thursday, which is the day they were supposed to arrive.
I Ordered the Moon on a stick twenty three minutes ago, the bastard thing still isn't here yet!
I may just have to go on some sort of killing spree or something!!!
Or just Whine like a big baby on the inntraanettz....

It's a shame we get these (quite legitimate) threads and can understand why they took the route of ommiting bad reviews in their site cos that's all we do .... Moan
Truth be told they must deal with millions of orders and get some wrong. We're all human and these threads are becoming a weekly event. Maybe we need to rewrite the balance and list our positive experiences
Ok here goes - I paid £10 for a next day delivery for a new helmet (lid for the street readers) and guess what - it arrived on time and perfect condition
--- not taking anything way from the poor service op received. Just trying to inject a sense of perspective
They used to be excellent at despatch and delivery and crap at dealing with problems, now they are crap at the D&D but seem much more helpful when sorting out the cock ups.
It's as if they have just looked at the cost of getting the service right, and decided its cheaper to just sort out the problems afterwards. Much like the consumer electronic industry no longer tests goods and just replaces the ones that customers discover to be faulty.
Problem is that its a competitive market where others are getting the service right and they are gradually eroding customer confidence in them. They used to be my first port of call for bits, now they are pretty low on the list.
...these threads are becoming a weekly event...
Yep but TBH I think it's just that there's a bunch of lazy people who are angry that having left it to the last minute to try and secure the item they "needed" from the cheapest source via an unreliable means of delivery has oddly caused them problems, and they just want to blame someone else...
"I had to abort all of my cycling plans for the next decade because I waited too late to order something incredibly critical from CRC thus it's their fault that I failed to plan ahead and order sooner, their fault that I failed to have any other contingency, and their fault am too affraid of belittlment or too lazy/tight to set foot in a bricks and mortar shop and pay a bit more to get said item in time for my incredibly important trip..."
My sympathy for these people is limited, if you haven't guessed...
Ffs, the courier making an arse of things is hardly CRC's fault is it?
Actually, to my mind, it is. Your contract is with CRC, for the sale and delivery of the goods. That CRC choose to sub-contract part of their obligation, as opposed to, for example directly employing someone and buying a little van for them to bring the stuff to you, is irrelevant.
If you employed a builder to build you a house, the brickwork wasn't done right, the house fell down and then the builder said it wasn't their fault because it was a sub-contractor (bricklayer) that f***ed it up, would that be okay? Nope, course not.
CRC have the obligation to get the goods to you as promised, however they may choose to do that.
Everywhere uses a 1500 order/postal time to guarantee next day delivery, it's nothing new.
The item not arriving is due to the courier. Apart from a problem with their staff over the phone I see nothing wrong here.
I've never had an issue with CRC, last week I ordered a crankset from them, told them I didn't have the left crank top cap (only to then find it in the BB) and they'd already sent me a new one.
If stuff is absolutely-100%-must-have-tomorrow, go get it from the LBS. That's what they're there for. If someone really wants to buy it online, think ahead a few days or accept there is an element of real-world risk in delivery times.
My CRC story: I ordered the wrong bottom bracket, and when it arrived it didn't fit.
They redeemed themselves with the free return service thing, a week from dropping it into a local newsies I had my money back.
The item not arriving is due to the courier
FFS, the OP hasn't contracted with the courier to do anything, it's CRC that have entered into a contract with him to deliver the goods by a certain time to a certain place. They are totally responsible for fulfilling that obligation.
I'm upset that I've had over £200 in my CRC basket, and not had a discount voucher email for ages 😥 😆
Is CRC clever enough only to send out vouchers to people who haven't spent anything for a while, rather than those poised to pay full price? 😀
Cheers, Rich

Most LBS's can only carry a limited stock, it is frequently easier and quicker to order stuff online than from the LBS.
True, but they didn't dispatch them until Thursday, which is the day they were supposed to arrive.
No it wasn't.
As you said, you missed the deadline for next day delivery.
That's not their fault.
It was supposed to be dispatched Thursday.
And it was.
The courier messed up (and you did too, by missing the deadline) Not CRC.
Never had a problem with crc. Although as mentioned before , once ordered some axels and they arrived in a huge box.

Haha, I'm really not indignant, just mildly irritated, so in retrospect I guess it wasn't really worth posting about. I kind of expected a to get some stick because I've often thought what's the point when reading these threads.
People who are saying I deserve no sympathy for leaving it to the last minute, I can't really disagree, but CRC offer a next day service so I - perhaps naively - thought it would be here within 2. I did ring around local bike shops and they were all out of stock unfortunately.
I still think I've received bad service, but agree I'm not going to achieve anything whining on a forum about it, lesson learned I guess.
As for the middle class thing...I wish 🙂
In other news.
I ordered a new lid from UKBikeStore. It came the day they said it would be despatched. Wowsers, that's a fast postie.
Slightly OT but I ordered a chainring from them and it came in a jiffy bag.
One of the few occasions it might have been nice to have had one of their boxes 🙄 😆 😆

+1

you mean nothing wrong apart from the fact he has paid for service to receive goods they have paid for by a certain time and they have not received them.
if you see nothing wrong is there anything you would like to buy from me? There is nothing I can fail to deliver to you by tomorrow NOTHING.
Junkyard - MemberThere is nothing I can fail to deliver to you by tomorrow NOTHING.
Is this still true, just that its now 3.25...?
My sympathy for these people is limited, if you haven't guessed...
I tend to agree actually. Ok, the OP has been let down by a courier but who hasnt? but if it was THAT critical, a bit of forward planning or a contingency plan is the least you should have done, like arrange to borrow some off here or from a pal.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
