Hello

Could you please tell me if this crank is compatible, see url & pics

My current cheap crank malfunctioned & is a 46T single & the bottom bracket is a 68 mm BSA threaded BB shell.

The bike is used regularly & on road woods & gravel & the odd trial aswell, its a pinnacle mercury ' emtb ' well sort of.

The bike has done less than 100 miles since new so hope that this means i shouldn't really need new chain or cassette, especially as bike is sub 1000£.

Ive ordered a crank removal tool & hoping the archer crank is good & compatible & can just swap.

Open to suggestions on any other crank preferable at discount & below £100 & im also considering a new bottom bracket @ same time as the current one is cheap aswell.

The bike is sound imo apart from these two parts & i wonder to just upgrade both.

Budget inc shop fitting for both £180.

I'm not very mechanically minded as long as the crank fits i can if need be get a bike shop to fit it, but ive watched parktool videos & seams within my ' skilkset '.

Thanks

Crank failed in less than 100 miles! I'd be looking at the warranty first assuming the bikes is under warranty.

Well maybe i failed the crank )

Its a pants crack anyway & its arguably not an ' emtb ' either !

Hard to say from pics, half decent chance, try it and see.

How did you damage the crank?

Oh thought id add id prefer slightly more top end speed, & thus the lowest gears to be used more often, i can get the archer crank with 48T & i assume the derailer will give the tension of slight increase & the rear stay clearance allows only just as about 1.1 cm to an 8.1 mm additional 48T to the existing 46T @ 192.7, added more pics to this effect in above link.

Now the crank failing the pedal or i upon it tightens itself didn't tighten the pedal as much as should despite self tightening (

Better that crank went during trials of bike than in the muddle of nowhere & i don't think the crank is any use to time for ' emtb ' tyre XC stuff.

Anyway 2.40 tyre max purchased 2.35 so no comments on mud clearance or the lack of it, stupid hans big tyres !

Thanks

& lastly despite preferring a single front crank, i could consider a 2 cog front crank & derailer.

& then have 16 gears to play with.
