Hi STW, I need some crank advice. My current crankset is a Race Face Ride on a Race Face Bb92 bottom bracket. The cranks arms feel a little flex and I'm looking to upgrade to a lighter, stiffer crank (either XT or XTR).

Could I just slot a Shimano crankset straight into the BB92 bottom bracket or will I need some sort of adapter? I've tried scouring the web and I think the answer is yes but there are so many options and standards that I'm feeling a little baffled. Thought you might be able to confirm.

Thanks!

This from Pinkbike implies BB92 is compatible with Shimano, see about third paragraph down.

Raceface spindle 30mm

Shimano spindle 24mm

Adaptor(s) required I think

Raceface Ride is unlikely to be 30mm. It'll be 24mm, like Shimano.

You can replace your ride cranks with anything 'normal' shimano (ie XT/XTR)

Do they really flex or is it all in your mind / just wanting shiny things?
