So, I bought one of the above as they seem to get plenty of good reviews regarding reliability. However, I've had it 2 months and it already has obvious front to back, side to side wobble plus a bit of rotational play. Niw, I had 2 brand x posts before this that were both sent back for the same reasons. Am I just insanely unlucky or am I expecting too much?? Is it the lenght of the post that will lead to inevitable play? Reviews state very minimal play, what level is that? Just debating whether I need to send it back for a warranty claim or just shut up and put up

Just fitted mine to my Scandal, really annoying it won't rise back to position automatically only if I lift it back, it drops fine. Cable routing and cable have no kinks, I've adjusted with the barrel adjuster and only torqued the seat tube to 5nM so well below max. Also checked the actuator alignment which seems correct. Anyone have any suggestions?

My Highline has very little play, less than my Reverbs all have/had, although I've only had it a few weeks (maybe 4-5 rides).

IME a bit of twisting is pretty normal for dropper posts, but forwards / backwards and side-to-side is concerning.

Same on the one I bought from Wiggle about 5 months (and approx 500 miles) ago. About 0.5-1mm fore/aft and side-to-side play and 1-2 degree or so rotational play.

Never had a dropper before so I have no idea if this is normal and acceptable or not.

I would say my Highline posts (have three) have slightly more front to back play from new than a Reverb, when pushed and pulled about, and a similar amount of lateral play. They haven't got noticeably more after a few months' use. None of it is detectable while riding, for me. Provided it's not interfering with the post operation or me riding it I don't take any notice.

I had a recent one from Wiggle, for my Scandal, and I couldn't get it to stay in position, up or down. I sent it back as faulty, half expecting to get it back with advice that I hadn't adjusted the actuator collar correctly, but I got a refund and in the meantime had bought another which has been fine. I concluded mine wasn't right by unscrewing the collar and removing the cable fitting and then pressing down on the saddle (still attached) on the floor. As it wouldn't hold position I couldn't see that it was anything but faulty.

If yours will hold position it might be worth adjusting the actuator arrow alignment very slightly as it seems to make a difference with a very small amount. Also, I didn't speak to him but the guy at Extra who deals with CB is supposed to be very good at troubleshooting issues.

Fitted mine to my scandal. Easy to fit and set up done more than a dozen rides on it no probs. Only minor gripe is I’d like the return a bit faster.

Bit of a thread resurrection but I've had a highline 170mm dropper in regular use for about a month and a half and it has about a mm of fore/aft and side to side play. No rotation though and it's not noticeable whilst riding.

Is this the generally accepted normal?
