I have a Trek Superfly and that means i have to stick to a 24mm crank from what i can determine.
Currently it has a deore m627 which i have converted to single ring. but is a bit bashed up and tatty, it is functional though.
I am looking at the bits on the frame and thinking where i can save a reasonable amount of money for not a huge spend.
SLX and XT don't actually seem more than a handful of grams lighter, the Rotor 3.1 seems to save a little more but you are stuck with its weird ring pattern and limited choice.
Does anyone have any ideas, upto c£200 ish
SRAM XX1 on a GXP axle.
Yep, head over to SRAM for savings, spiderless 1x also
can anyone confirm whether eagle chainrings will work on an 11spd system?
12 speed chainring is 0.2mm narrower - will work no problem with a 11-speed chain.
XTR M970 if you can stand to have a used/worn item- they're light, they're strong, they have 104BCD so you can't fit a tiny ring but it's still fairly sensible. And they're cheap and don't have bloody sram BBs.
What about an older generation 24mm FSA k-force light 386 chainset.
I've one here that weights 537g with a 32t single.
Its a 3 bolt ring but FSA's own megatooth ring works with 11spd
For more common 4x104 rings, the FSA SL-k weighs 660g with 34t single
Both available BNIB on ebay. The k-force might come with a full ceramic BB also. I got 3 years out of the pressfit one I had!
Use a hope BB for the GXP, works really well too
For reference, these are some weights I recorded myself when swapping chainsets
GXP XX1 crank with 32T direct mount works component chainring - 567g
GXP X1 crank with 32T direct mount works component chainring - 647g
Raceface AEffect direct mount is 650g with 32T chainring. I've these on my FS and the fat version for the Puffin. £130
