hi,i have a carrera fury 2010,whilst im more than happy with the frame ive changed everthing except the suntour magniesium forks.id like to change the bottom bracket as they dont have a good rep for staying together and lasting any longer than 12months. the one fitted is a truativ power spline but would like to fit a shimano crack set with bottom bracket as i dont think chris king make one that fits.does anybody know what will fit or do i have to just keep replacing bottom bracket.cheers jamie.
Ditch the powerspline kit, there's only the one BB on the market and it's hopeless as you've found. Modern shimano cranksets generally include a BB which you could, if you wanted, replace with another brand at some point in the future.
Pretty much anything will fit as long as it's compatible with your frame's BB shell width(either 68 or 73mm), and you get matching cranks. Powerspline was a pretty horrible set-up offering no advantages, poor bearing life, creaks aplenty, and cranks that could often be pulled off by hand(even when brand new) so just about any standard could be considered an improvement, though i'd shy away from anything ISIS (generally known for poor bearing life), Truvativ/Sram GXP, and Race face(cranks ok, BB not so good but can be swapped for others such as Hope, King or Shimano) for similar reasons.
I also own an '10 Fury.. When the power spline BB wore on mine I actually couldn't find anywhere with one in stock that could get it to me quick enough.. Like the previous posters have suggested I purchased a Shimano Deore (£50ish) crankset that came complete with a new BB. Easy to fit and it's still going strong. Replacement BB choice is now easy as E bike is now set up for a HTIi style bottom bracket.
thanks guys awesome response will wait for this one to pack u7p then will defo go and get the shimano deore to replace this rubbish one lol.
