Non-drive side, seems to develop a creak part way through a ride - got home - checked it - its come loose, tightened it up and then same again, developed a creak.
Its a Deore hollowtech BB, and deore hollowtech cranks, 5 months old.
I put a tiny spot of grease on the splines (to stop the cranks seizing on the BB) - was this wrong?
Should I just put some threadlock on the crankbolt?
does it need to be just 'nipped up' or 'very tight' (i don't have a torque wrench)
thanks in advance
dawson.
You've possibly knackered the crank arm. Every creak was wearing metal away. Somebody on here no doubt will no doubt have one.
I've the same problem with my road bike. Must get round to sorting it (170mm ultegra octalink).
thanks for the reply.
while it is tight, it doesn't creak?
I think i will try a bit of threadlock - if its tight on the splines it shouldn't wear the splines (he hopes!)
Like Lesaniita2, my only experience of this is a knackered crank arm spline.
Yup probs a goner
