Morning, anyone have these race face boots on their crank arms? Wondering if they add much to the length of the arm and if the fit is ok. Couple of reviews say they're ok.

Have them on carbon cranks, haven't noticed them since they went on. My alloy cranks are all way to far gone for it to be worth protecting them now.

Had some on some 785 XT's, absolutely grand.

The alloy ones don't fit on saints though, but the carbon ones do.

Not sure I get the point of putting these on alloy cranks, is it just to stop them gradually looking used by making them look crap from the off?

That's exactly what I think, whenever I see those stone chip protectors that American love to put on the bonnets (hoods) of their cars - although it would appear that some brits like them too

They're designed to keep insects/snow etc off the screen but don't let ignorance stop you.

Nope...don't even drive, but have spent time in North America and was curious as to what they where for.

my crank arms are battered from rock strikes - guess it just depends if you want to try and preserve the looks out of the box

How will a bit of rubber on my crank arm keep insects off my windscreen?

Interesting, I've only ever heard of bonnet bras as being there for protecting against lead edge stone chips...... and then damaging the paintwork underneath by collecting grit anyway.

I generally preserve the looks by not covering the looks with something that looks different. Reminds me of folk that buy a lovely new couch then cover it up to keep it looking good.

My point in putting them on alloy cranks was because I was being a tart and they matched my frame colour.
