Much to my surprise for the first time ever in my off road riding lifetime, i was told by a dog walker that I wasn't allowed to be riding my bike there.
She even interrupted her own phone call to inform me that no cyclists allowed.
She however did not back up her claims of that with any information.
Just a blank no cyclists as riders have apparently not been keeping to the routes.
I bet if I had mentioned to her to clean up her squatting dog mess that she would of got even snobbier.
I was left feeling pretty shocked that it's come to this, I may in fact move to Scotland like originally planned to roam freely within reason.
I did say to her that all of this hooha I thought had been cleared up a while back and haven't heard of any developments otherwise in the local parish news magazine.
SO to any locals who actually know, have there been any developments of the access for bike riders as it seems ok for these snobby old fools to sabotage the tracks with tree branches everywhere and stumps etc on blind drops, corners etc.
I didn't tbh stop for long to talk to her to press the issue further, however crossed the road and had a ride as usual down the race track slowly anticipating obstacles in the way and with a dodgy ankle seizing up on me.
All in all, feel shitty and wanting to punch something/someone as that was the last thing I was expecting.
I'm a local rider and haven't heard anything to this effect.
Were you on one of the routes listed on the Bigfoot site? http://www.bigfootmbc.co.uk/cranham/
There are pictures of bikes spray painted on the trees in cranham to let you know where to ride or not. Just don't get caught where you shouldn't. 😉
I was on the route which I don't usually follow as per the one that I rode with with bigfoot guys/gals once.
It was the other side of the race track for reference. I was riding further towards Birdlip.
I never once saw signs but know of the bikes on trees paint further down towards Cranham.
You want to punch something because some nobody with no doubt very little ubderstanding of the actual rights of way said "dont ride here". 😆
Get used it, ive been told on bridleways that I cant ride there, ignore the idiots and carry on.
I pretty much did carry on but felt a bit weirded out by it as it's never happened before apart from being hit by a golfer up at painswick beacon for riding on the pathway on the side of course.
Dangerous up there north of Stroud, will stay put in Minch/avening/standish
😆 dangerous indeed 😆
It was the other side of the race track for reference. I was riding further towards Birdlip.
Were you riding the Shrine? In which case you probably met the owner, and you are not allowed to ride the shrine, end of no discussion. You used to be able to but the saw mill got sold and the new owners are very much get off my land.

This was posted on Facebook last week,
Which ever ****wit it is ****ing stop it!!!!!
If you CARE about Cranham woods can you PLEASE SHARE THIS!
Note to anyone who rides Cranham woods, people are building stuff, new trails appearing off the side of the racetrack plus other stuff thats messing up trails.
The area is ours to ride with permission after much negotiation by Cheltenham & County CC, Bigfoot Mountain Biking Club and Mean and Dirty Events but this came at a cost, that cost was no more trails unless agreed.
If we want to keep some of the best trails for miles we need to be sensible when it comes to what we do. Apparently some guys from the Swindon area have been building, which is causing concern.
Please please don't build stuff guys, whoever you are. there is enough to ride already. These woods are super sensitive and we want to keep riding.PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE, where ever you can. Many thanks Cranham lovers.
