I remember him from maybe 25 years ago he would come up to Pitmedden on his mountain bike had amazing skill on a bike as well as being pretty fast and fit
Seeing as there are a few on here from Scotland I would think maybe others have raced against him
Sad to say I just read he passed away having been diagnosed with cancer in September

RIP Craig - sad to hear.

I didn't know him but remember the name from doing a few SXC races years ago, around 2003 prob. He was one of the fastest riders there and used to win, must have been proper strong as they were very hard events (genuinely put me off racing for about ten years!).

Yeah, I knew Craig. Heartbroken the other day when I found out. Just one of the best guys, always great to be around.

Red is faster.

Sad news 🙁

Didn't really know him as such but raced against him a couple of times. I was in complete awe of his wheelie skills, such a strong rider but never lost the fact that fundamentally bikes are fun.

That's shit news. I remember getting lapped by him quite often and depressingly early in cross races.

Really sad news. Gutted for Lynn, Lois, Bill and Christine (or Admin as he jokingly referred to his Mum).
As OmarLittle says - he never lost sight of the fact that bikes are fun 1st and foremost - no mean feat for someone working in the bike trade!

Sad news. I too was lapped by him and have dined out on his compliment as he passed. 'You're going way too quick to be at the back' ☺️

Didn't know him but gutted for his family.

How old was he?

Morning,
I was part of the early 90's Dunfermline mountain bikers and spent so much time with Craig. We are all truly heartbroken at Craig's passing. So may great memories of holidays, trips and races. On Dunfermline club road runs, he'd regularly just pop a wheelie in the middle of the bunch, the roadies thought it was great. The passion and energy he had for life and cycling will be so missed.

I met Craig once at a CX race after giving one of his team a lift. Says alot about someone 10years later after one brief meeting and no further contact that I knew exactly who this thread was about.

Gutted when I heard the news.
Remember Craig coming passed on every XC race I entered, fast, fit and great technical skills. Really nice guy as well. I remember he won an early.Scottish downhill on a Pace RC200 I think he raced it at Red Bull hill chasers in Edinburgh about 20 years later.

Ride free.

An absolute legend in the true sense of the word. Got a lot out of cycling but also gave a huge amount. The news has upset me more than I think it should, which like someone else has said, just shows how well liked he was by so many. He did a lot for the Scottish XC and CX movement in late 90s to early 00s and was a formidable opponent for anyone turning up.
Despite riding in different circles, he always had time for you.
