Oh FFS just got my bike back from the bike shop and have found this (not lbs fault I had a crash at bpw and mustn't have noticed)

Does anyone know if this is borked? Anyone have some chain stays for a 2011 cube stereo?!

Utterly gutted as just got new wheels and forks fitted

Is it damaged or just cracked?
Could be a warranty thing as it looks like it failed at the weld.

I'd probably just find someone who can weld aluminium well and get them to repair it and see how it goes.

You can weld aluminium, but you then need to heat treat it to get the hardness back into the material. Seatstays flex and I would expect that rewelding and heat treating, that will be the same place it will fail again soon after. 5yr old hardtail, is not worth the chance of failure. Hang it up and admire in the garage.

You could try contacting Cube (through a dealer) to see if they could find an old rear end for your frame.

Is it covered under accidental damage under your home insurance?

Ooops, missed the Stereo bit.
You could try and get a replacement rear end ? I met a chap who had a warranty road bike from Cube, which was a crack and he bought it new. Said that it was his problem at 6 months old. Bloke was 8 st wet through and managed to crack a massive CF bb down tube with his 'power' . I met him at the LBS, as he had to get a claim through his house insurance, as Cube were not interested and he was testing Spesh road bikes as a replacement.

Vernon Barker in Dronfield in/near Sheffield could fix it probably. He can do alu and ti and steel frame repairs.

Hope to help.

No, but if it is borked and it's a large carbon mainframe let me know - handy to have a spare 🙂

Gloucester / Swindon based so local if it's repairable but the heat treating on an old frame probably makes it unviable.

Ba?

Will try cube on Monday, but fed up as I'm a serial changer and this was feeling right even if it was an old dog of a bike :-/

It is a large but ally, stupid question would any size 16/18/20" frames back end work or would I need the same size frame?

Many thanks guys
