Bike was making a few God awful noise's on Thursday's evening ride. so stripped the rear end down and discovered a crack the full length of the Freehub.

It's an Alloy one, about 2yrs old and has the usual cassette score marks.

Not heard of any cracking for a while, so is it worth contacting Hope about warranty or just get a replacement??

Cheapest I can find atm is Merlin @ £52

Send back -> get new one 😀

Oh, just a tip - I did the same, stripped all the bearings out etc and got an empty one back, so might be worth keeping it all together and getting new stuff!

Is it evo?

Yeah it's an Evo one. Does that make any difference?

I'm sure they'll sort you out if you contact them. They did for me.

I think you would have a very constructive phone call with them in morning.
If you ask for their help they are normally very helpful.

Mine was also cracked, though I assumed from new, as I only noticed on 1st bearing change (over a year old)... Spoke to hope, they said send it in and we'll take look.
They sent out a new one with new pawls and seal, which was nice.

Chap I know, who will probably see this thread and comment soon, had exactly the same thing happen a few weeks ago. He had a most acceptable result after reporting the incident to the manufacturer.

Sent one back on a Monday at half five. New one delivered Wednesday. As I'd had one go before, I asked nicely if I could have the steel one instead. They were kind enough to oblige.

Always worth a chat with Hope about their stuff. I'm about to ask them if they'd be kind enough to re-rivet a floating rotor for me.

Steel is the way for freehubs.
My superstar Tesla hub had the option of alu or steel at the buying stage on their website, no extra charge.

As Johnj2000 said, my Pro 2 hub split straight across.
Phoned Hope Monday morning, they said send back for replacement.
I said the hub was circa 8yrs old and I no longer had a receipt, thats fine the bloke said!
Received a brand new 40T engagement Evo hub and new freehub on the Thursday.
Excellent customer service IMO 😀

Hope have great after sales support.

I had problems with severe notching of the aluminium free hub on my road bike, replaced the 1st foc, after the 2nd one went the same despite following all their advice, they gave me a steel body foc

The steel body makes the wheel feel more solid under power, its also less noisy, but people who commented about the big difference in weight of the steel body were not wrong, so the wheels have gone onto my commuting bike 🙂
