Hi

Wanting to know what handlebar length to use on my cove stiffee. I basically use the bike for road and light tracks nothing serious. I’m 5ft 5 roughly. Is there a calculation I can do or any advice be great

Thanks
Tom

There are no rules or calculations. Somewhere between shoulder width and the length of handlebars you buy.

just buy a set an keep chopping the ends off until you are happy.

660mm / 685mm would be in keeping with its era, given that it's for lighter use and your small go 660mm.

In the true spirit of Internet forum advice I’m going to give you some that you didn’t ask for.
Sell the Stiffee on retrobike for more than it’s worth and then buy something suitable for riding on roads with. It will come with the right size handlebars, boom, job done.

No way I’m selling my stiffee it’s the 1st bike I ever built from scratch by my self. I don’t like road bikes anyway it’s more of a challenge with bobbly tyres 😂

Yeah well I’m currently running 700 bars and they just abit wide for my little arms might cut them down as they have markers on to cut them down abit.

If you're just riding on road bars of that era were about 690mm, if you're running a shorter stem you can go wider (geometry innit).

Be careful with the markers, they may not be accurate.
