[Closed] Cove Handjob... Frame Size question

I have been reading many reviews and thoughts on correct frame size and so far i'm still confused 😀

It seems we are all different shapes n sizes and whilst one frame size suits one person, it doesn't suit someone else who is of similar height.

The bike in question is a 17.5" Cove Handjob and according to Cove the stand over height for this is 29". The other other specs are quite similar to the 19.5" frame give or take an inch or 2.

I'm 6ft 1 and my inside leg measurement is about 33". I quite like a bit of seat post but would feel cramped on a short reach frame.

Would the Cove 17.5" be a reasonably comfortable fit of is bigger best when it comes to tallish people and bike frames?

I'm about the same height as you and ride a 19" HJ with a 70mm stem, my seatpost is 350mm and nearly at the limit.

If you're near Notts you're welcome to swing a leg over.

PS - great bike, just wants to go faster downhill

Yeah, go for a 19" one.

I'm 5'10.5" with a 32" inside leg and have a 17.5" one with a 90mm stem and a layback post, fits me fine, but at your height you'd need the larger one.

6' 1"? Get a 19".

I'm 5' 11" and had two 17.5" frames, of which the newer one (with shorter stem) was too short.

If you want a smaller long frame, have a look at a Dialled Bikes PA or a Cotic (the HJ has also gone up in price massively - I sold mine for what I paid for it over a year ago)

I'm 5'9" and a 17.5 is just right for me. At 6'1" you will defo need the larger size. Handjob's come up quite short in the top tube, which is the most important measuring point for sizing IMHO.

5' 11.5" and a 33" inside leg, and my 17.5" HJ is (sadly) too short in the toptube, although I did ride it for nearly 4 years before coming to this conclusion!

Great bike, but you should get the next size up.

How do the Handjob Massive feel about the very slack seat tube angle? Do you pull wheelies all the time going up steep hills, or does it have long stays to offset?

I briefly a layback post on my Soul which would have made it roughly equivalant to an in-line on a HJ (on the basis that 2cm = 2 degrees?), and my front wheel felt extremely light.

I've not noticed that as a problem, and I run my RS Revs at 130 as can be seen above.

Nope can't say I've had any issues with climbing, it'll go up proper steep stuff if you can climb properly 😉

By "climb properly", I presume you mean seated (for traction and energy efficiency), spinning out an even cadence?

Not essentially seated, just keeping your weight well distributed and a smooth stroke for techy / loose stuff

The reason I ask the question is that the Hummer seems to have been given an extra couple of degrees in the seattube dept in the last couple of years. A nod to the competition? HJ to follow?

With 120mm forks (or less) the HJ is a very good climber. If you're worried about it, look elsewhere, since you'll always have it at the back of your mind and then you'll always be blaming the seat angle when your front wheel lifts instead of just getting on with riding the damn thing 😉

Aaargh,..

Merlin selling HJ's for £405 for the next few days.

21" apple green massively tempting, but mrs would have my balls.
