having trouble tracking down a bike box for my 29er which i want sending from my parents place in york to my place in bristol.

i do, however, have a bike bag...

would couriers take it in a bike bag?

it's quite well padded, and is what i use for flights....

I've had bikes shipped to me with just an address label on the saddle. Depends on the courier really.

Edit: and people ship me Bromptons in the soft carry bag all the time.

Have you tried round the back of Halfords? - I've had a few from there.

I just sent my Titus 29er off, it took 2 boxes but still only £25, they don't charge the same amount for the 2nd one.

Should be OK, I've had 2nd hand wheels shipped to me in nothing but a bin bag. You could always ring them to check? (LBS dont have any cardbord boxes you could nab?)

cool, thanks... am gonna use one of those services whereby the couriers bid for your service.

LBSs say they don't have big enough boxes for my 29er 🙁

oh, and it'd be handy having the bike bag down here anyway

Just get two normal boxes then cut and tape them together.

Well they are mad - let the air out of your tyres and they are the same size as 26" wheels. Take the fork out an I'd be surprised if you can't get it in to pretty much any adult bike box.

if it were me doing the packing, i'd probably stuff it in... it'll be my parents though! will see what they can get though. tbh, the bike bag would be useful though.
