Do I take the road bike or the mtb?
Road... weather's looking a bit crap though there are some nice rides round there. Could do some of the ToB route maybe, tick of a couple of the climbs out of the 100 road climbs book.
MTB... could have a lap or two of the Llandegla red and maybe go ride some natural stuff up round the Clwydian range (though I really can't be bothered with maps.) Then do I take trail 26er or race 29er? Not going to be shredding the gnarr as I'll be on my own so maybe the 29er.
Apologies for the indecision, I blame lack of sleep due to our pesky kids being up all night. Please make my mind up for me 🙂
Take the 29r and some extra skinny tyres, then you can do either road or MTB
Road on the mtb with skinny tyres? I won't know whether to ignore the mountain bikers or the roadies!
You could pick the MTB marathon route started the other side of the hills at ruthin. If you have got a garmin you can down load the route.
Penmachno is a easy drive away.
Thanks shall check that out.
Hmm checked out and don't think I have five hours to spare!
Forget the trail centres, the Clywds has some of the best riding in Wales - check out...The Clywds
Over the top of moel famau and moel arthur is a great ride.
From Llangollen climb up to World's end, go along the sleepers into Degla, route of choice, lunch at the cafe, climb to the masts, descend to world's end cross the road and then take offas dyke path back to Llan.
Ah use to ride up that way from Llangollen many many years ago before they set up Llandegla. I'd probably get horribly lost now.
Took the road bike in the end as I wasn't going to get enough time for a proper ride, just did this short loop up to the coast and back. Weather was a bit grim, would have loved to have been out on the mtb.
check out...The Clywds
Thanks. That looks good, shall check that out when I'm back up north.
