I could not work out why I have felt so weak recently. Times have been faster but legs have not wanted to spin and I've ended up at the end of long hard rides feeling pretty wrecked.
At are you tough enough (no) I ended up using my 28t for 5hours as I just couldn't get on with the 36T 'big' ring after the first hour.
Did a bit of calculating and decided I could move from my 36/28 double to a 30t 1x10. This felt surprisingly easy on climbs but not much faster than the 28t inner.
Looked at the chainrings I took off last night - I ordered 36/28.....I got 44/30. 44 ffs!
44 - so what is considered a normal big ring. Toughen up tweetie pie.
Checking number of teeth stamp on chainring prior to fitting FAIL 😉
I often count the teeth as the fairies always seems to be nicking them off the back and sticking them on the front. Somehow they always manage to put them back in place before I can catch them out.

Obviously you are some 6/12hr XC master - care to post your results ?
I've never counted teeth before fitting.
I expect the retailer isn't going to want them back as they're used now 🙁
(did you not think that the big ring was a *tiny* bit bigger than expected though?)
I was 2nd at the Puffer once. 😉

I bet you didn't have no 44t big ring neither 😉

Somehow the fact it was a double and the 30T got it passed me.
Twas purchased from Merlin - they will exchange the rings! They really are a great outfit!

Nah - I was singlespeed. I am a proper man you see. One day the mere mortals will understand.
