Just wondering if this light could be DIYed to use XPG leds?
or if not whats the output of three CREE Q5WC like.

Would it be any bettr than a single P7 as in the Batid?

I think it has more potential to be modified over a P7 - There are lots of 40mm optics that suit XPG leds.
The optics used may already give you more throw than a P7.

Is it brighter than a P7? - hard to tell - drivers and optic - make a difference.

Is this using the same LED's as lumicycles non XPG model?

that should give a very similar light output to the bastid light. A bit less but not a lot less.

Based on the battery size and runtimes I'd guess this is three LEDs run at 700mA. It looks similar to the Lumicycle can conversion but using an MR16 lens rather than MR11.

It could be XPGs anyway - they do a Q5 in neutral white - but more likely XREs. Upgrading to the highest bin XPGs would get you up to about 800 lumens. Unless the driver can be hacked to give a higher output current you will struggle to get any more than that without changing the battery pack as well. Running three LEDs from 7.4V needs a boost driver, the cheaper end tends to be buck drivers so not suitable.

Personally I'd be tempted to say that for the cost you might as well buy two and save yourself the hassle!
