I'm thinking of getting a Cotic X as a commuter, back lane touring bike, but before I jump in I want to check on sizing.

I'm 6'3" tall with 34" inside leg.

Do people think the 58 will be big enough? I like to ride in a pretty upright position, not stretched out like a roadie.

Thanks

I have a 58cm and I am 6ft, with a 33" leg, I could probably have gone for a 56cm but I was a bit paranoid about toe overlap so went for the bigger size.
The headtube isn't too long, I have quite a few spacers in there.
Also really don't understand why they designed it for a 140mm rotor, I noticed that the latest Pompetamine has 180mm rotors. I had to buy an XTR centrelock rotor at great expense, and it runs about 2mm from the chainstay, which means that when the rear wheel is removed the paint has chipped off.
A couple of little niggles but its a really nice frame to ride.

I don't think I've caught the rotor on the chain stay once while taking the wheel out.

And to probably to get it through CEN without having to build it too heavy?

5'8" with 32" inside leg here, 54cm with an 80mm stem. Perfect fit.

6ft and a bit, 35" inseam I ride a 58cm with a 100mm stem, saddle to centre of bb is about 810mm with 175mm cranks. Tried it with a 110mm stem but didn't feel right.

Thanks Geoff. Any problem with 175mm cranks and toe overlap?

20thebear - 110mm Stem, 175mm cranks, and only the slightest amount of toe overlap with 32mm knobblies and size 11 MTB shoes.

Nice one Gary. What rims are they? Canti brake and disc compatible?

20thebear - they're Cy's Cotic Components wheels. Totally bargainous, a bit porky but sturdy enough and the hubs run really well!

Cartridge bearing hubs laced with no frill spokes to some Alex road rims.

@younggeoff. Can I ask what make of mudduards you used please? I'm buying this bike and I'll have the same problem with placing mudguards with the brake in the way. Or did you just bend the arms?

Hi davecrampton, I had to bend the stays thru the Avid brakes, it worked pretty well and looks neater than having massive spacers. I originall y just zip tied the rear guard to the chainstays near the bottom bracket but managed to get a thru bolt from a santa cruz Blur which works perfect. I'll take some photos and email them to you. The mudguards are SKS Chromoplastic Road Mudguard Set courtesy of wiggle
