Thinking of getting one of these as a do everything bike now that my road bike is a bit posh for grotty roads and the work bike racks. How is it as an allrounder? Can it keep pace on a club run etc etc? Does it feel heavy to ride, can it hold it's own in the unlikely event of being used for cross racing? Etc. I'd have to give up my singlespeed for it, and maybe a mountain bike too, so it's requiring serious consideration. 😆

any decent cross bike will keep up with road bikes with decent tyres on.

Again, cross racing is about the rider not the bike.

I used to have a Kinesis Crosslight as my only Road bike, so I'm happy with the idea of a cross bike per se on the road. Just wondering about weight/stiffness etc.

Tails = the section at the rear end of an animal's body.
Tale = a recital of events or happenings.

There are lighter bikes out there, even in steel, however I like mine. Mine was an early one and the provision for the front mount of the rer mudguard was non existant when its shouldn't be. The response from Cotic was something along the lines of " the factory got it wrong" and the pratical solution was "tough".
Having 2 sets of bottle mounts on the down tube is apparently because its a race bike and seat tube ones would be in the way. Hmm. Bottles in nay place on a race bike? The practical side of it on my 54cm frame is that you can only use the smaller bottles if you have both cages fitted and adding an extra cage in some form of clip has the same result on the seat tube.
Whinge over its fine other wise. If you want to carry anything on the front don't get the carbon forks. I believe that now they are an extra but were standard when I got mine in nearly 2011.
With some nice light 25mm tyres its beeen used to tick plenty of hill, did the HONC with 38mm slicks and takes 38mm knobblies with guards.
The black is boring but is that all you can get now?

Thanks Sputnik. I feel suitably illiterate and embarrassed.

Thanks Matts. Yes, they did seem to come out with the mark 2 pretty quickly. It does seem pretty versatile though. Black is all they have in stock, but I guess there must be some more orange ones on a boat somewhere.

Ah mate , please don't feel embarrassed and you are far from illiterate. It has been a bit of a slow afternoon for me and I should have been out on my bike instead of correcting grammar on here 😳

PS Wait for an orange one!

Bol sorry buddie but bad news and good news

I have spoken to Paul at Cotic

We've been sold out of 54cm in orange for a while now. The next batch of >X< frames in arriving in September, but we've swapped orange for green this time for a change.

That's not so bad. My Solaris is Orange, so green would help avoid any confusion in the morning. They'd have to sit next to each other in the hallway though. Not sure how offensive on the eye that would be? I'm colourblind, but have to give some consideration to Mrs Bol.

The green was chosen to sit nicely with either the Orange or the Blue. Very much a family of colours.
