Is it just me or do Stanton owners have a real dislike (to put it mildly) against Cotic?

I can understand that they both have a similar product and would appeal to the same riders/market - but this seems a far more deep rooted thing.

I don't see Yeti and Santa Cruz owners going at it for example.

Am I missing something? Have Dan (Stanton) and Cy (Cotic) got some history?

I've owned both and like both, not sure there's any conflict other than people who happen to own one or other defending / extolling the virtues of their choice.

I thinks it's just banter (if you're talking about the FB group?) just taken a little too far at times....

Having spoken to Dan and Cotic being raised in conversation (my reference frame being my Solaris) I detected no animosity directed their way. Never heard anything headed the opposite direction.

If you look, you can see my Cotic chain stay protector.... 😆

Loyal customer base defending their choice ? I am a Cotic man and happily recommend to anyone, would never dis Stanton as not ridden one. Both British designed frames so the more the merrier imo.

er, what kind of gear is that to be in? And you should be showing more seatpost than that

That's the start of the Fungle singletrack, you really don't want your saddle high for that.

Gear to stop the chain bouncing off. It's a double, spend most my time in that ring.

Definitely a bit of animosity perpetuated by some of the members on the Facebook group I've noticed (but certainly not by Dan himself, far from it). Seems a bit odd to me, mostly it's taken in good humour but a few do go too far for sure.

jambalaya - that's my opinion on it too; but it does seem to get a bit heated (on the Stanton Riders page they wont even put cotic, it's always c***c), so I was starting to think I had missed something.

Personally I'm not a fan of brand bashing - if you are happy with your bike and riding it makes you smile, then all is good!

Can't see much banter there TBH

Stanton Riders is a great name for a lady, though. Sounds like she should be in a Bond film.

I think people are taking this far too serious...it's just an ongoing joke.

As a direct competitor i.e. British designed, independent brand predomently specialising in 'hardcore' hardtails it's seen as a swear word in the group page hence the whole Cc thing. The biggest joke is that most who joke about it have been found to have actually 'liked' the Cc page!! Shock horror!!

Dan in my experience talks positively about C***c, certainly no animosity there I wouldn't think.

Yeah, I always assumed it was people just being funny (or trying to be), although there did seem to be a few who genuinely seemed pleased at the sight of a broken Cotic frame...

I own a Stanton, which I love, but the Facebook group is pretty tedious. The demographic is full on steed/sick edit/dripping in Superstar 🙁

Conversely, I don't own a Cotic but I subscribe to their newsletter as I find Cy's writing on bike stuff to be consistently some of the most intelligent out there.

The most annoying demographic in the group are the ones who think they're special or better than someone for owning an 'exclusive' bike. Makes me cringe a bit whenever I see a post like that.

From someone who rides a Stanton 'dripping in Superstar'
